My name is Anniken Blokkhus but go by AbCostume online. A Norwegian girl that moved to England, Bournemouth to pursue my passion for costume and get a Bachelor in Costume and performance design at Arts University of Bournemouth. I started getting into making stuff after getting my first propper sewing machine at age 15 and stepping into the cosplay community in Norway. And quickly got an eye open for big dresses and started making my own costumes for myself ranging from Disney princesses to Super Mario costumes.
After I started studying Drama at St. Halvard vgs in Lier, Norway I soon started to design, make and source all the costumes for the plays my class put up. This made me wanna make my hobby as a cosplayer and sewist into work and applied to a bachelor’s at Arts University of Bournemouth. After graduating I got a substitute position at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet working as a costume maker for both women’s and men’s costumes.
During spring 2026 i finished my Journeyman’s certificate as a bunadtilvirker with highest marks. During my 1,5 years as an apprentice I’ve learnt a wide range of redlisted crafts like metalic bobbinlace, wool embroidery, rigid heddle weaving, tabelt weaving and more.
I have developed a big passion for historical costuming and used this both at university and when I make costumes for myself as a hobby.
I’m a lively girl with lots of motivation and spirit. Always ready to learn new things and take on tasks and challenges. Always positive and hard working with a big eye for details.

What we do is a cross between magic and camoflaug. We create the illusion of changing the actors into what they are not. We ask the public to believe that every time they see a performer on the screen, he’s become a different person.
