From August 2024 until april 2026 I’ve been an apprentice or lærling as a “bunadtilvirker”. I finished and got my Journyman certificat with highest mark (Bestått meget godt).
A bunadtilvirker is a person in Norway making and crafting the traditional folk costume Bunad. One also get educated in diferent handcrafts traditionally used in the making of bunad and norwegian folk costumes. A lot of these crafts are redlisted and dying out.
During my time as an apprentice if made both women’s and men’s bunad, including adjusting and restoration of old bunads.
For my “exam” I made a Vestfold 1956 bunad, completed 3 side task including weaving, embroidery and metallic bobbin lace.
